It has a news and talk format which is branded as "96.3 Newsradio KKOB" and is a reflection of a simulcast with co-owned KKOB-FM at 96.3 FM. They have their offices and studios in Downtown Albuquerque. This broadcast is the oldest station in New Mexico and it is also the state's primary entry point for the Emergency Alert System.

If we should speak in more technical terms, this station’s transmitter site is off Second Street NW in North Valley and it is a Class B facility that operates around the clock with 50,000 watts. This is the maximum allowed in the United States by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC).

During the day, KKOB uses a non-directional signal so it can reach most of New Mexico's populated areas and parts of Colorado and Arizona too. But during the night, the station uses a directional antenna so they can limit its signal to the east in the direction of WABC in New York City. 

The programming of KKOB includes local news and weather updates around the clock, national news updates from ABC News Radio and  traffic "on the 7's" during the week. But its schedule features mostly local talk shows in the daytime. Those talk shows include Bob Clark in morning drive time, Darren White at middays, TJ Trout in the afternoon and Brandon Vogt in the evening. Apart from that, they have as hosts in their schedule Mark Levin, Rush Limbaugh, Red Eye Radio and America in The Morning.

During the weekends, KKOB airs shows talking about health, money, gardening, home and technology. It also includes Chris Plante, Ric Edelman, Jim Bohannon and Bill Cunningham.
